A Sydney Wedding – where fun was top priority

5 Jul

When this couple describe their stunning Sydney wedding they use the words ‘fun’ and ‘collaborative’.

“From the start we were determined that our wedding would be a great party that was a celebration for not just us but all the guests. Everyone had so much fun and that is all we wanted. We had a great venue, great band (Slide McBride), great weather, great food, great wine, great speeches and the room was just full of love. I also loved our ceremony… the vows were excellent and our celebrant was so sweet and sincere.”

Bride, Kimberley also told us that they received so much help from their bridesmaids and loved ones. “I can tell you there were many late night assembly lines and brainstorming sessions that happened.”

The couple’s journey to their Sydney wedding started when Tom and Kimberley were in a marketing tutorial together. Tom was on a mission to get to know Kimberley more! He recalls, “I even took up an opportunity to drive her the 6 hour journey home at the end of the semester just to try and win her over. We had so much fun and still are having fun.”

Tom explains the first time he saw Kimberley at their wedding ceremony. “You just can’t prepare for that moment, it was such a great feeling… Kimbo floored me, it brought a new type of smile – it was such a special feeling.”

Kimberley describes the fun they had DIY’ing for their wedding, “We hand-made 150 bon bons each with hand-made badges and other quirky memorabilia. We hand-made our hall decorations and other trinkets. A good friend designed our invites, place cards and menus which we then hand tore. It sounds arduous but we had many laughs and it was all pretty relaxed – wine and vodka was a must though.”

The couple held their Sydney reception at the Q-station in Manly, Sydney. This heritage listed site has many of the original structures restored to their former glory. Most of the guests stayed in the guest rooms scattered around the Q station. Kimberley says “It made the whole event seem like a weekend away and also meant everyone came along to continue the party at our recovery party the next day.”wedding reception in Sydney wedding venueWhite wedding cake with navy blueDancing at the weddingDancing at the weddingBridal couple at their Sydney Wedding

Kimberley and Tom tell us about their wedding photographer David Campbell, “Dave took the most AMAZING shots and was so easy to be around…. We feel sooooo blessed to have had him as our photographer. He not only captured every moment but also captured the ‘real’ emotions in each and every one of those photo’s. The images he has given us give such a vivid and true representation of the day and all its emotions.  We’ve never seen anyone have their day captured in such a way, a really true account, we will be forever grateful.”

The bride and groom leave this advice for future couples: “Don’t listen to the crazies – it is really not difficult to plan. Workshop fun ideas and don’t forget you will have family and friends there that love you and will not judge you.”

Such a beautiful wedding! Thank you for sharing with us Kimberley and Tom and congratulations on your marriage.
